FRIENDS WANTED!
FRIENDS of
VERMILLION COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY
Friends of the Library Webpage

Our library is a big part of our history and community, and we are asking for your help to keep it strong and growing.  Most libraries use Friends groups to help fund and support their local libraries. Ours did not until now! The Friends of Vermillion County Public Library is asking for your help. Join Friends to keep our library an important part of our community.  Could you volunteer a few hours a month or even a day?   If you don’t have time, could you donate money, bake something for a book sale, or come up with a great idea for another type of fund raiser. Any effort will be appreciated. Please help us keep the library a safe place for our community and restore our summer program, and add more programs. We welcome your ideas. See the "Friends" page for contacts

 LIBRARY CELEBRATES 75 YEARS !

New director Pam Hazelwood joins Wanda Turnbull, organizer of the new Friends of the Library,  Bob Booth , Vice-President of the Board of Library Trustees , Rita Self, Technical Assistant, and Donna Prather, President of the Board of Library Trustees in celebrating  the seventy-fifth anniversary of Vermillion County Public Library.

Friends of the Vermillion County Public Library
Wanda Turnbull has taken on the task of organizing the Friends of Vermillion County Public Library .   The purpose of the group would be to volunteer personal time for book sales, helping in  the library, and generating funds to support the library's needs, restore reading programs for our children, and aid with the mandatory  automation of the library.  The board will establish goals and coordinate the functions of the Friends with the library staff to enhance our library for the community.  If you would like to become a member, please contact the library at 765-492-3555 or Wanda Turnbull at 765-492-4618.

On April 1, Pam Hazelwood started her job as the new director of the Vermillion County  Public Library,  Pam is from "somewhere around Dana" and has served on the library Board of Trustees "off and on" for the past nineteen years.

The library staff and volunteers continue to catalog and barcode books in its effort  to join the Evergreen Library System. Evergreen would allow our small library access to materials from several other libraries including the Indiana State Library.  Volunteers are still needed to complete the cataloging as quickly as possible. If you want to help, please contact the library at 765-492-3555

A good library will never be too neat, or too dusty, because somebody will always be in it, taking books off the shelves and staying up late reading them.  ~Lemony Snicket
